Day 1: Start the Challenge!


After having two babies in eleven months, you could say getting back into fighting shape has been more than just a daunting project. I've tried a number of programs (everything from the postpartum mom's go-to-girl, Lindsey Brinn, to the merciless Jillian Michaels and her 30-Day Shred) since Baby Tiger was born four months ago. However, after spending the last few weeks relaxing and enjoying summer vacation in sunny Southern California (in other words, plenty of yummy goodies, icy margaritas and no real workouts), my husband and I decided to really commit to something bigger, something more life-changing.

OK, maybe it's more like I decided to commit to something bigger and my husband, being the amazing supportive man that he is, is right by my side to start out this new adventure right there with me: a new 60-day fitness program from Beachbody (makers of P90X, Insanity, TurboFire and more) called PiYo, a fabulous fusion of Pilates, Yoga and cardio. Perfect for the postpartum mama working to get back in shape and for Papa L to ease a little more gently back into the workout world.

So here we are on July 1st, ready to go! Wish us luck!

Edit: We survived Day 1! I may have been rather sore by the end of our 45-minute session and Papa just might have thrown himself on the floor and moaned, "Well...it didn't kill me" after the last move on the DVD, but we did it! The best part? It may have been a challenge, but it felt great!

To think that it was only the "Fundamentals" session, too (learning the moves, names and positions) makes me very excited (apprehensive?) for the next two months of workouts.
